Battle of the Bowels

This week I bought both a little plastic potty and a Costco-size pack of diapers. Which will win out? Stay tuned.

On a related note, I'm open to any and all potty-training advice. :)

I should also note that we're not doing too much with the potty yet, just talking about it and inviting Emma to take a seat. We'll see how it goes for a while.

so cool! potty-training time! honestly, i would recommend just waiting until they're ready. if they don't want to do it, don't push, it'll only make them less reluctant to do it in the future. that's so great that you're doing it, good luck!

you could get her the potty watch eventually. it's $10 and has an alarm that you set to go off every 30, 60 or 90 minutes that reminds the child to try sitting on the potty and see if anything comes out. you can get it at onestepahead.com or just google it and see if they sell it at any stores in your area. toys r us or babies r us may even have it.

She's so super smart that she'll catch on FAST!!! Oh and that alarm advice. Very key!! You have to have the energy to remind her...which is kind of hard being prego. And don't be surprised if she regresses after the baby is born.

my advice.
do NOTHING.
nothing at all.
she will potty train when she is ready.
just have the potty out.
sit it next to yours.
don't talk about it, nothing.
one day...when she is ready...she will use it.
all 3 of my kids potty trained around the age of 3 on their own.. with me doing just that...NOTHING!

I used the three-day potty training plan I found online. it worked perfectly the first time. it may have been because coop was ready when we did it, but there were no accidents and he was off of diapers at night as well as during the day. i've got the program if you'd like more details, but this one worked wonders for us.

I also think waiting until their ready is the kdy. I knew Christopher was ready when he was dry in the mornings and after naps and didn't like messy diapers. But he was 3 1/2 before that happened. But he potty trained really easy and we've never had a wet bed, which I think is great. But I did Naomi's potty training boot camp as she calls it. We don't go anywhere for a week because going out seems to mess up the process. I just put them in underwear (with plastic pants over them since we have carpet) and just bug them every 10 minutes asking if they have to go. With Christopher after a few accidents he realized that wasn't fun and started going on the toilet. He was trained in a week and it's been great since then. We are about to start with Michael so hopefully it goes as well. :) Good luck.
