Like Mother, Like Daughter

Lately Emma can be found in the pose below. I wonder where she learned it??

Mia Mia!*

Our sweet little friend Mia came over today to play with us while her father graduated from law school at NYU.

We met Mia's parents the week we moved to Jersey, when they were brand new, too. We became fast friends. Then in April 2006 I was sitting in the back of RS at Church, sneaking some goldfish crackers because I was pregnant and hungry. Apparently I wasn't being all that inconspicuous because Mia's mom, Lisa, saw me, sat next to me, and whipped out her own bag of goldfish. Mia was born 10 days after Emma, and we've had a fun time with these girls. They finally know how to say each other's names and play together very well. We are going to miss Mia Mia when she moves to Cali on Friday.
*MiaMia is how Emma says Mia's name. The picture isn't the greatest because it's hard to get two toddlers, one of whom really misses her mommy, in the same place at the same time.

Chatty Emma

Emma says a lot of words these days, but occasionally her need to say something will overwhelm her somewhat limited vocabulary. That does not, however, stop her from saying what needs to be said.

Old Videos

Today I got out the video camera, planning to retrieve a video I took of Emma last week. But instead here are a couple of older videos I found hiding on the camera. The first is one of Emma the day she learned to walk (October 2006):

The second video is Emma opening up her first birthday presents from Grandma, Grandpa, Tyler and Brittany:

The third is a video of Emma and her cousin Kate hanging out in Grandmacita's backyard on Christmas Eve 2007:

(South) Westward Ho!

Some of you have speculated that something big has been in the works for us since I've been kind of silent lately. The answer is yes. I've been waiting for a few weeks to post this until things are definite, and they're not completely yet, but I thought it was time to mention it anyway.

(Fanfare...)

We're moving to Dallas!

A few months ago, Dave and I decided we were done with New York. Dave is sick of the hours, he'd worked like six weekends in a row, and we'd had it. So we scheduled a trip to Dallas in March and Dave had a couple of interviews. He recieved two offers and has accepted a position at Jones Day.

Emma and I tagged along on Dave's interview trip and went looking at some homes. We fell in love with a fabulous new community called Woodcreek Fate. Technically, the subdivision is in Fate, Texas, but the address and school system is in Rockwall (yes, that is of Jason Castro of American Idolfame). We went out to Dallas again at the end of April and signed a contract to build a home, which should be finished in the Fall.

Isn't that a lovely piece of land? On a cul-de-sac and everything.

The one thing that is holding us back is the sale of our condo. It's been on the market for a couple of months now and we've had a lot of people come to see it, but no bites yet. Is anyone looking for a lovely two-bedroom just minutes from New York??

How do you think Emma looks as a Texan? This was taken at the Fort Worth Zoo.
