April 2013: Disney, Tuesday

So how can you top a funeral and a day at the Magic Kingdom? By having a kid waking up in the middle of the night struggling to breathe, of course! Somewhere around midnight Maddie woke up coughing with the definite sounds of croup. She is prone to it, and gets it all the time, and usually I am able to catch it pretty early. But somehow three adults (2 her parents, and the other one a doctor) managed to miss it. Luckily, my father-in-law had a rental car, because we did not. Dave and his dad took Maddie to the ER where she received a breathing treatment while the rest of us slept. (Don't feel too bad for us though. I've been to Disney 9 times and this is the first time anyone has ever needed a doctor).

Andrew and Emma were up bright and early, so I took them to Epcot while Dave and Maddie caught up on their sleep. Maddie's meds worked great, though, and she back to normal by the time she and Dave joined us around 11 am. We were able to have a great day despite it all, though with dramatically fewer pictures. Here we are enjoying the Epcot garden festival.
