Happy Birth Day, Dear Madeline

Emma *loves* birthdays. Ever since her birthday back in November, she frequently asks for birthday cake and randomly sings "Happy Birthday" to herself, me, Daddy, etc. Needless to say she loves calling relatives and singing the birthday song. (I like it as well; we used to sing it as a family chorus, per tradition started by my grandparents, but now Dave and I are happy to let Emma perform a solo).

The Friday before Emma was born was my brother-in-law's birthday, so we've had birthdays on the brain. I had the brilliant idea of giving Madeline a birthday party to welcome her home, mostly for Emma's enjoyment. (Confession: I may have read this somewhere, but I can't for the life of me remember where, so I'm claiming this idea as my own. But feel free to steal it). After we came home from the hospital, Dave took Emma to a local bakery and had her pick out some cupcakes. Then we threw a short party. We all had fun and I think we will do this for future children too.

I think I will have to steal this idea....if I can remember it. :) I'm excited that my kids are both older so I think they'll really get into the birth of #3 a lot more. I'd like to make it special for them, too, and throwing a birthday party - with cupcakes! - would probably be just the thing.

Oh, this is so sweet. And those cupcakes look fantastic. But, Jess, you look beautiful and Madeline is so sweet. I hope you're getting some rest and enjoying this.

Emma is so precious. I love her voice.
And I like this idea a lot! I'm for sure going to do this w/ the next (whenever that is). It's a good way to get the kids to understand that there's a new someone in the fam. And it makes them feel included rather than left out. Great Idea!
Hope ur feeling good and resting as much as you can.

That's a fun thing to do! I showed Jeff the pictures and he couldn't believe how big Emma looks...like a little lady. :)

I loved it! I love how Emma says "Baby Madewin"--and what a great key to sing that song in! This is a great idea...I'll keep it in mind. Madeline has so much hair! We love all four of you! (And your mom, too.)

Too fun.

I loved the video.

I detected a little "Jersey girl" accent. Haha. Emma is going to be quite the older sister.
