Summer Flashback: Nauvoo

On Wednesday, July 28, we were able to attend a session in the Nauvoo temple. It was so beautiful and I love how they restored a lot of the original details.

After our morning session, we were off to tour some of the sites. We tried to get an oxen ride, but it was too hot, so we just took some pictures on the wagon:

We cooled off in the Visitor's Center:

We took a short nap and then headed out to see the sights controlled by the Community of Christ. We saw the original homestead of the Smith family:

And the graves of Joseph Smith, Hyrum Smith, and Emma Smith:

We also saw the Mansion House:

And the Red Brick Store:

That evening, after a nice dinner, we put the kids to bed and left them with Grandmacita and Tyler (thank you!!) while the rest of us went to see the Nauvoo Pageant. It was a wonderful, incredibly touching show. As an added bonus we also had an apostle sighting (Elder Neil Anderson) and saw some old friends from New Jersey.

Fun to see sunny pictures during this snowy winter we are having here in NJ. Congrats on baby 3! but sorry to hear you were so sick. I can sympathize though...the sickness if the worst!

I love reading all of your summer flashbacks! This looks like a really neat trip. I would love to go someday too.
