February 2014: Snow Day!

Last February, we got real, actual snow! Which of course quickly turned to ice, but there were a couple of hours where the kids could go out and play in it before it turned.

Christmas 2012, Part 2

Christmas 2012 also had a bit of a miracle: SNOW in TEXAS on CHRISTMAS! We went outside and spent a lovely hour just playing together in the backyard.

Ice Day...

What do you do when the roads are covered in ice (and snow), and Dad is working at home so you have to be quiet?

Yeah, we've been doing a lot of this...

I hope they don't get too used to it!

January Sun

Last weekend we had four glorious days where it got up to 70 degrees, which seems a world away from our current day 4 of below freezing temperatures. We took full advantage of the weather and spent plenty of time outside. My favorite was watching Madeline as we road bikes and cars on Friday afternoon. She is getting to be quite the big kid! She rode the plasma car down the driveway and then dragged it back up all by herself.

Snow Day

We are stuck in a rare deep freeze (rare for North Texas, anyway), and are cooped up inside on day 2 of ice-covered roads. We got barely an inch on Tuesday morning, but it was pure ice and has caused a lot of problems. We did get some snow this year, though, last month. These pictures are from January 9th.

The girls lasted maybe 5 minutes outside? But at least no one cried this time. We don't have any real winter gear (like boots or waterproof gloves), so they got cold quickly, but still had fun. As for me, I'll take snow over ice any day.

What a difference 2 days makes...

On Sunday morning we woke up to this:

Yes, SNOW. In TEXAS. On the first day of SPRING.

But, never fear, today we introduced Madeline to this:

She had a fantastic time and was particularly wet. Her favorite thing to do was suck the water out of the sponge toys in an attempt to build her immune system. May it be a long and glorious Spring!
