With Dave taking the Texas Bar in 10 days, and me in my third trimeseter of pregnancy, Valentine's Day 2009 promised to be anything but hot and heavy. (Although. If you just count me, at 30 weeks I'm tipping the scales pretty heavily these days. And I'm hot ALL. THE. TIME. I haven't resorted to turning on the air conditioning yet, but I'm loving me some ceiling fans.) So when Dave brought up Valentine's gifts a couple of weeks ago, my response was: "Why don't we get something fun for both of us, like a Wii?" Ever the one to take hints, Dave came home a week ago with this:
He even surprised me with one of these:
Although frankly, that probably won't be getting much use until May or so. Since I've never been one for forced romance or overpriced flowers, this suits us just right. Perhaps my favorite Valentine's day ever was in 2002. Dave and I had just gotten engaged like a week before, so we really didn't need another romantic evening. And since the Olympics were on in Utah, we celebrated by going to a hockey game with some friends. I can't remember who was playing (maybe Bulgaria? we certainly couldn't afford tickets to a US game), but it was sure fun!

What a fun Valentine's gift! I've heard the Wii Fit is super fun!
Happy Vday!! One day we'll have to give in and buy a Wii! Wow- you are 30 weeks!! That is so fun...i am excited for you guys!
I can't believe that you are in your third trimester! Time is going by sooooo fast. What a great Valentine's Present. Oh, and so jealous you went to a hockey Olympic game. That is one of the things that is on our bucket list to do.
We have one called "Big Brain Academy" and it is so fun. Check it out! Very fun in a competitive, nerdy sort of way.
Jess, you have such a way with words-you make me laugh. I enjoyed the reminiscing, especially because I was gone during that part of your courtship.

I was laughing out loud reading your post. :) Our V-day was really romantic, too - Peter spent the evening preparing his high council talk and I spent it prepping sharing time. The Wii definitely sounds like more fun.
wow, time sure flies when _other_ people are pregnant! a wii fit sounds awesome. great present.
and you guys look the same now as you did in 2002.
You are so funny Jess. I think that's a great gift and I'm sure being 30 weeks prego there wouldn't be much romance. :) We are very similar...I bought Jeff steaks for V-day and he got me a new temple dress. We weren't even together on V-day night...I was home with kids and he was doing church stuff (we did go out to dinner the night before though cause we swapped babysitting with the Reed's). Anyway, good luck with the last few weeks of pregnancy..hope you are comfortable.
So cute! We got our Wii as an anniversary gift last year and LOVE our Wii Fit! We should exchange Wii #s!
Good luck to Dave on the Bar!!
AWESOME!!!!!!! What a fantastic valentine!! LOL!!!
Long live 2002! I have the top picture, too, but it's not overexposed. I should scan it and send it to you.
And trust me, a week postpartum makes for a less romantic Vanlentines.
Apparently I'm into story-topping you today.
