From July: Door County, Day 5

Thursday was another beach day. Emma and Madeline's favorite activity was jumping in the waves. Andrew just liked the crawl around on the beach and splash in the water!

From July: Door County, Day 4

We went to check out a lighthouse near where we were staying. Unfortunately it was closed and we couldn't go inside, but we had a great time jumping in the waves!

From July: Wisconsin, Day 3

Our third day in Wisconsin may have been by favorite. We went up to Washington Island and explored its sights. The ferry ride there was half the fun.

My favorite--Schoolhouse Beach. One of 5 beaches in the world with no sand, just rocks!

From July: Wisconsin, Day 2

We spent our second day in Wisconsin on the beach. We also explored Peninsula State Park.

From July: Wisconsin, Day 1

After hanging out in Chicago for a few days, we drove up to Door County, Wisconsin for the Kern family reunion. Sunday, our first full day, also happened to be Grandpoppy's 60th birthday. We celebrated by going to church, having dinner and cake, and going on a walk.
The tiniest chapel I've ever been in--Door County, WI.

A Long Way from Chicago

Back in July, we were able to visit my grandparents in Chicago. It is one of my favorite places on earth. Since my parents moved after I graduated high school, it is the only place I can go to wax nostalgic about my childhood. And since my grandparents' house is super fun, my kids love it too. Here are some highlights:

We all love to read!

Mmmm...Deerfield Bakery...best donuts ever.

The parks are really fun there.

Parcheesi is a family tradition! And Emma was old enough to learn how to play.

In Which Andrew Eats an Entire Soft Taco

From July...

I knew boys are bigger eaters than girls, but I didn't know it would start so young!
